Pico's Bistro and Barbecue Grill
Pico's Bistro "fresh food with a bite" is the creation of Rosaline Maxx and her husband, Robbie. Taking what was once Kenji's roadside garage, they have created a hip restaurant, complete with a stainless steel state-of-the-art kitchen and two outdoor seating areas.
The interior bursts with bright sherbet colors, while the menu boasts a wide variety of items, all made fresh on the premises. Besides the grilled-to-order burgers, chicken and lamb kebabs, seafood, pasta, quiches, and several salads, check out the daily specials. The most popular item so far is the Greek Sampler plate! Beverages are also uncommonly delicious, with Thomas Kemper creme sodas, lime and tangerine spritzers, and real tropical fruit smoothies. Fresh-squeezed juices and customized "Italian" sodas round out the offerings.
Rosaline created her menu to serve foods that aren't readily available elsewhere in Kohala. She's dedicated to lowering the shop's carbon footprint by using locally grown produce and biodegradable cups, cutlery, and carryout containers, with the mantra, "No styrofoam to be found here!"
Linger long, and enjoy the feel of old Kohala on the outdoor dining deck, furnished with rustic wooden picnic tables, shade umbrellas, plants and sculpture, or on the covered dining lanai.

Pico's Bistro is open daily (except Tuesdays) serving scrumptious lunches and dinners from 11 am to 6:30 pm. Rosaline loves baking tarts and treats and turns out some amazing not-to-be-missed dessert creations. Picnic lunches and to-go items are also available, as well as private dinners by arrangement.
