Biography
I am a print-maker who works in slilkscreen, etching and a large varietyo of mono-printing techniques. Even though I love the more formal traditional process, I have come to use monopriniting techniques because I enjoy the creativity of being able to worlk in series. Each monoprint its a unique print, one of a "family of prints", that evolve from a single print-making session. I also do not have a to rely on using a press to monoprint. Since monoprinting does not alter the surface of the printed plate in any permanent way, the "ghost image" of the most recent print remains on the plate to be reworked, re-enhanced or erased, totally.
Often, an idea for a print begins with a sketch, made in pastels.
After I create a print, I usually go back with pastels to enhance the color. The finished print often ends up loooking more like a drawing than a print.
Since living in Hawaii, I have used my monoprints as elements in creating larger collages. IN an attempt to capture the energy, vibrant color and rich depth of field that Hawaii's unparallel landscapes contain, I have combined every medium that I enjoy: monoprinting, drawing and silkscreening.
I feel so fortunate to live at the northerly end of the Big Island, where green fields fall to the sea, and lofty mountains rise all around!
I hope you enjoy my work.
