Gale Scudder

Gale Scudder's picture

Biography

Gale Scudder discovered her passion for stained glass artistry when she moved to Hawi in 1984.  She was divorced with two small children to support.  On a whim, she enrolled in a class in Kona, led by Helen of Island Art Glass.

Immediately, she fell in love with the process, finding a way to reinterpret the natural beauty of Hawaii that so deeply affected her, through glass.  The texture of glass, the ways that colors blend and change with light and the opacity of the medium allowed her to express herself artistically.

Gale enjoys working with commission pieces.  She meets with the clients, collaborating on ideas and installations.  many of her pieces are integrated in the arcitectural features of her clients' homes.

As she says, "I see so much beauty around me, and, through my stained glass work, I get to see it again in a different way."
